Blackwater banned from Iraq

Security contractor giant Blackwater were involve in a shooting in Baghdad. The shooting left nine civilians dead. According to the Iraqi interior ministry Blackwater will no longer be permitted to operate in Iraq. The U.S embassy is opposed to the Iraqi interior ministry decision to kick out U.S contractors. However the Iraqi interior ministry really doesn't have the power to kick out U.S contractors. Unlike other private U.S security firms in Iraq, as of may, Blackwater hasn't registered with the Iraqi government to operate in Iraq. In addition the occupational government issued a decree in 2004 immunizing security contractors from Iraqi prosecution and placing their operations under the jurisdiction of U.S authorities. This sparked a serious diplomatic debate between U.S and the Iraqi government. The story is important because it tells you some of the government issues that are going on in Iraq. In addition it raises questions about who makes the decisions in Iraq, is it the U.S government or the Iraqi government.
