WAR

There are many issues going on in the United States, but I think the biggest issue is the war in Iraq. Even tough the war in Iraq seems like old news it is still an important issue going on today. The war in Iraq in my opinion is a huge mistake, which is costing the United States many problems. In addition, the war in Iraq is an issue that affects everybody and still there is no end to the war.
The Bush administration in my opinion used fear to convince people that the U.S. needed to go to war with Iraq. For example, the Bush administration claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and that they were planning to use them on us. Until this day, we have not found any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I think that the government should have verified that there were weapons of mass destruction before going to war over falls assumptions. The Bush administration made a bad decision going to war and should have used diplomacy first.
Furthermore, one of the problems that the war has cost us is it increase our national debt. The war in Iraq has cost us billions of dollars, which is continuing to increase. In addition, the money that we spent on Iraq is going to come out of our taxes, which would have gone to something more beneficiary to us. The money that we are using in Iraq could have been use to give health care to kids or even rebuilt New Orleans. The war in Iraq is financially costing us problems, which will continue to affect the United States.
In addition, the war in Iraq is an issue that is affecting everybody. For example, it affects both the citizens of Iraq and the U.S. soldiers. There are both citizens and soldiers that die everyday in Iraq and continue to die because of the war. In my opinion, it seems like the war in Iraq might turn out to be another situation like Vietnam were the death toll increases as long as we are at war. Another affect the war is having on us is that it has changed the way we look at government many people now disagree with the war, and would like to stop it.
Finally, I think that the war in Iraq is an important issue. The U.S needs to deal with this issue to stop all the problems it is creating. In my opinion, I think we should stop the war and focus more on the issue that are going on in the U.S. In addition, I think that we should not have gone into war in the first place and that nothing good could have come out of it.

The Sheppard’s or The Fox?
A reply to Isidro's "WAR"
There are fundamentally two ways you can currently look at America’s situation in the Iraq War. You can believe that America is acting as the Sheppard’s of Democracy and all the fluff that entails. Such as spreading democracy, taking down fascist dictators, stopping national security threats i.e. Weapons of Mass Destruction and finally, helping the Iraqis reach a better standard of living. Alternatively, you can see America as the proverbial fox in the hen house, greedy by nature our government has lead us into somebody else’s country with the sole purpose of exploiting their resources. In his post, Isidro discusses his disapproval of the way the U.S. government has invented and handled the war in Iraq. I too agree with his opinion that not only is the government at fault for creating the war but that the war should be brought to an end sooner then later, at whatever the cost. You can call the war and the presence of American troops in the Middle East whatever you want, War on Terror, War for Oil, Stepping stone for Iran. It does not matter what rhetoric you use only that you can see through the fog. I myself am a Veteran of the Iraq War and was deployed to areas in the Middle East. While originally being caught up in the war hysteria, I was quick to discover that America’s presence in Iraq has long out lived any justifiable reasons for remaining. America’s presence has now become that of an occupation force. Growing negative sediments to Western society will continue to fester in the region as long as our government continues its current rigid course. The continuation of an unjust war is not only bad for international relationships but also tends to rot the apple from within. As skepticism over the war continues to grow, it will become harder for our society to keep faith and trust in a government that constantly lends a deaf ear to the very voices that elect them to office.

I agree with your take on the war in Iraq. I believe this War shouldn’t have started in the first place. It is great that you wrote the effects on the United States. This War started 4years ago (on March 20, 2003). And we are still dealing with this conflict. Like you said the war created a fear in the people of the United States because it was said the Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. This war also rose up quickly because of the issue of September 11.
Furthermore, with this War in Iraq the U.S. and Iraq are paying for it in a bad way. Like Isidros said, the United States is paying for it in terms of national debt and the death of our soldiers. I agree with Isidros when he said that the War is costing us billions of dollars, and that the money being spent on Iraq can be used on health care or rebuilding New Orleans. In addition to that innocent lives are been taking because of the mistake of going to war. We lose innocent people both Americans and Iraqis everyday.
In conclusion, the War in Iraq is a critical issue that should be paid more attention to. With the way the conflict is going, it is only going to get worse. So like Isidros said the United States should try its best to stop the problems. I am in support of that also but how will it be done?
Whatever the solution of this issue might be, it is easier said that done!
